Wrapping window frames in a wood look: why Golden Oak?
Golden Oak suits light-coloured façades, brick and natural stone and looks warmer than plain colours. Many woodgrain uPVC windows are finished in exactly this decor at the factory – which is why the foil works well for repairs.
Hold the sample against the frame in daylight: woodgrain decors from different manufacturers vary in tone and grain.
Wood outside, white inside
Often only the outside is wrapped in Golden Oak while the inside stays white – or the other way round. Each side is wrapped separately.
Repairing individual spots
Damaged areas on windows with a Golden Oak finish can be covered with the foil. For small chips, a uPVC touch-up pen also does the job.

Wrapping window frames in Golden Oak in 4 steps
Clean
Make the frame free of dust, grease and silicone, ideally with the RENOLIT window frame cleaner.
Cut to size
Cut the foil at least 2 cm larger than each profile face and lay the grain lengthwise along the profile.
Press on
Peel off the backing paper bit by bit and press the foil on with the felt squeegee so that no bubbles form.
Trim the edges
Warm the edges slightly, fold them over and trim them flush.

Golden Oak, Goldeiche, RAL 8003: colour and painting
Golden Oak is the English name of this woodgrain decor – in German it is called Goldeiche ("golden oak"), and RENOLIT lists it as number 2178001. Golden Oak windows therefore have no RAL colour, but a woodgrain decor with a grain and a texture you can feel.
RAL 8003 Clay Brown is often named as a similar RAL shade, for example for accessories such as window sills or roller shutter boxes. For scratches and mitres there is the Golden Oak touch-up pen.
Golden Oak paint for painting?
Paint gives you the colour, but no grain and no wood texture. That is why a painted frame next to Golden Oak foil usually looks flat.
