In brief

  • DIY wrapping: you only pay for materials. A standard window costs around €76 to €120 depending on foil width, plus a one-off of around €35 for tools.
  • Several windows: the price per metre drops from 10 and 20 metres. For five windows at 100 mm width, you pay around €59 per window.
  • Professional wrapping: labour comes on top of materials. The installer will quote this, as it depends heavily on the condition of the windows.
  • By comparison: wrapping costs only a fraction of new windows. Painting is cheaper in materials, but needs more preparation and has to be redone after a few years.

Professional wrapping

Having window frames wrapped: what the cost depends on

If a company wraps your windows, you pay for the materials and the labour. The installer will quote the labour after looking at the windows, as it mainly depends on these factors:

  • Number and size of the windows and doors
  • Condition of the surface: if old foil has to be removed or the texture sanded down, preparation takes longer.
  • Inside, outside or both, and how easy the windows are to reach, for example from the first floor upwards
  • Profile shape: lots of corners, glazing bars or transoms mean more cutting.
  • Travel to the property

What to look for in an installer

  • Ask about their experience and for photos of windows they have wrapped.
  • Ask which foil will be used. Original exterior foil from RENOLIT or Continental is the same foil that is applied to window profiles at the factory.
  • Make sure that cleaning, surface preparation and edge finishing are included in the quote.

We do not carry out wrapping ourselves, but we know installers who apply our foils professionally. Tell us where your property is and we will put you in touch with an installer near you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about costs

How much does it cost to wrap a window?

If you wrap it yourself, the materials for a standard window cost around €76 at 100 mm width and around €120 at 200 mm width. On top of that comes a one-off of around €35 for tools.

How much does it cost to have window frames wrapped?

The installer's labour comes on top of the materials. It depends on the number, condition and accessibility of the windows, which is why the installer will quote it directly. We are happy to put you in touch with an installer near you.

Is it cheaper per window if I have several wrapped?

Yes. The price per metre drops from 10 and 20 metres, and at 100 mm width from 50 metres to €5.37. For five standard windows, that comes to around €59 in materials per window.

Is painting or wrapping cheaper?

Painting is cheaper in materials, at around €30 to €70 per window. Wrapping, however, needs less preparation, has no drying time, offers genuine wood textures and does not have to be repainted after a few years.

Is wrapping worth it instead of new windows?

Yes, if the windows are technically sound and only the surface is yellowed, faded or scratched. The materials cost only a fraction of a new window.

How much does a foil sample cost?

A sample costs €0.99 with free shipping. This lets you check the colour and texture directly on your window beforehand: order foil samples.
